Rick Brice

With over 25 years of leadership and logistics experience as a senior Army Officer, I began thinking about life after the military and the next chapter in my career. I sought an MBA program that reflected my values and the pride of Connecticut, one that would open new opportunities, foster a sense of community, and adapt to the realities of my life. UConn’s MBA program, which combines academic excellence with unmatched flexibility, was an ideal choice.

Even while deployed overseas, I have remained fully engaged in my studies, transforming potential challenges into opportunities for growth. The blend of asynchronous and synchronous learning, combined with the unwavering support of my wife, Brittany; my boss and fellow program participant, Hellmut Haffner; and our OMBA Program Coordinator, Jamie Kirschner, has enabled me to stay on track academically while remaining present for my family. This experience has strengthened my leadership and strategic thinking, and it has reinforced a core belief: with the right program and a strong support network, it is possible to excel both professionally and personally, no matter the circumstances.
I look forward to sharing my journey with current and prospective students and staying engaged with the program even when life presents its most challenging obstacles.
